Philadelphia is one of only two “first-class” cities in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Established before the Civil War, the Philadelphia School District is one of the largest and oldest in the Country. Responsible for overseeing the Public Education of hundreds of thousands of students. As part of their Mission, the School District of Philadelphia “will deliver on the civil right of every child in Philadelphia to an excellent public-school education… and graduate from high school ready to succeed, fully engaged as a citizen of our world”.
The public-school student population in Philadelphia is larger than the entire population of many counties throughout the state So much education, experience, and expertise, the School District Leadership has lots of Chiefs , Staff, Academic Support, Student Support Services, Finance, General Operations, Charters, Research & Evaluation, Information Office, Talent Officer, Fund For the School District, Facilities Management & Capital Projects, who work under the leadership of the Superintendent William R. Hite, Jr., Ed.D.
To move the Mission from theory to reality will require Action, The School district has the power, authority, and responsibility to “facilitate” the resources, supplies, and tools. Along with Public School Leaders, Teachers, Students & Parents, Community and Family Engagement in the creation and implementation of a Comprehensive School Plan of Action, hundreds of thousands of young Scholars will become successful, “fully engaged” citizens “of our world”.
