Public Education in a First Class City

Philadelphia is one of only two “first-class” cities in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Established before the Civil War, the Philadelphia School District is one of the largest and oldest in the Country.  Responsible for overseeing the Public Education of hundreds of thousands of students. As part of their Mission, the School District of Philadelphia “will deliver on the civil right of every child in Philadelphia to an excellent public-school education… and graduate from high school ready to succeed, fully engaged as a citizen of our world”.

To move the Mission from theory to reality will require Action, The  School district  has the power, authority, and responsibility to “facilitate”  the resources, supplies, and tools. Along with Public School LeadersTeachers, Students & ParentsCommunity and Family Engagement in the creation and implementation of a Comprehensive School Plan of Action, hundreds of thousands of young Scholars will become successful, “fully engaged” citizens “of our world”.
